A personal budget app built with Claude Code

I'm Liz ~ a UI/UX/Product Designer with a psychology background. That combination shapes everything I make.

Based in Sydney, Australia

My path to design was a long one: twelve years working in hospitality and mental health, getting close to people and figuring out how to make their experience better. My pivot started at 1440 Multiversity, an immersive learning center in California. My job was crafting the guest experience, but working on 1440's internal software is what pulled me toward digital design.

I dove into design: a UX/UI bootcamp, an internship, volunteer UX research, and mentorship from two professional designers helped me build my foundation. That led to designing a dating app at a Silicon Valley startup, then four years as the sole designer on a B2B SaaS platform used by Fortune 500 companies.

After a winding path across the US (Washington, Pennsylvania, California), I recently landed in Sydney, ready for the next chapter. I'm open to design roles of a few shapes: consulting with small businesses on using AI to streamline their workflows and building them custom tools, or joining a great team working on something with real positive impact.

Outside of design, I love cooking and experimenting in the kitchen, being out in nature, yoga, and shooting film photography. Currently a little obsessed with Rummy 500. Meeting people around Sydney has helped this new chapter feel like home, even with my family and friends so far away.

Psychology

Published undergraduate research on the effects of high-fat diet on latent learning and the dorsal hippocampus

Administrative role at a community mental health clinic in California
Behavioral therapist working directly with clients

This experience cultivated my skills in empathy and listening before I knew that would be valuable for my design career

2017–2020

Guest experience

Supervisor of Guest Experience at 1440 Multiversity, an immersive learning wellness center hosting workshops with leading voices in psychology, neuroscience, and integrative medicine
Contributed to operational improvements informed by client and employee feedback
Friction with our internal property management software became the catalyst for my pivot to design
